Now in its 25th year, the annual 40 Under Forty list honors attorneys for their legal accomplishments and service to their communities. Elkayam was selected from a pool of more than 1,500 talented young attorneys in Illinois who were nominated by their clients and peers.
In her practice, Elkayam helps her diverse client base navigate complex litigation, including breach of contract claims, shareholder and fiduciary duty disputes, restrictive covenants, and employment discrimination. She also defends clients against class action suits ranging from claims of privacy breaches to wage and hour violations. In addition to litigating, Elkayam advises employers on issues pertaining to termination and discipline, data privacy, and more. Also committed to pro bono work, she provides general employment counsel and compliance training to nonprofits.
Nominators described Elkayam as conscientious and trustworthy while commending her intellect, creativity, and skilled legal strategy. “Laura has a straight-forward, tell-it-like-it-is style that is both refreshing and efficient,” one nominator said. Commenting on one of Elkayam’s recent high-profile filings, another nominator said, “I do not engage in hyperbole, but I would rank Laura’s complaint as one of the finest I have seen.”
