David is the legal quarterback for his clients, counseling public companies and closely held businesses on complex matters, including strategic planning, talent development, acquisitions and dispositions, private placements of debt and equity, and tax and entity structures.

From advising on the competition for talent, to supply chain issues, to macroeconomic concerns like inflation or recession preparation, David offers clients strategic advice to address the daily risks of running a business. His relationships span decades and demonstrate David’s commitment to his clients’ success, including advising on succession planning and serving as a general sounding board.

David represents institutional lenders in virtually all aspects of commercial real estate and corporate loan and workout transactions. He also represents a number of commercial real estate firms, assisting them with the acquisition, development, and financing of real estate projects.

As Much’s co-chairman, David is actively involved in strategic planning and leadership development for the firm. While focused on offering excellent service to clients, his leadership also emphasizes giving back to the community. In 2022, David and his wife received the Human Rights Medallion Award from the American Jewish Committee for their immense contributions to building a more enlightened and compassionate society. David was also appointed as general counsel of Navy Pier, a high-profile tourist destination in Chicago with unique legal issues involving multiple interested parties.

Much More Than My Work

I serve as immediate past vice chair of the Board of Directors of Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). Recently, I chaired the JFNA Ukraine Allocations Sub-Committee, managing the flow of relief funds and disbursements to refugees displaced by the conflict in Ukraine. I am a past JFNA national campaign chair and past chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council/Jewish Council for Public Affairs Task Force.

I serve as board chair of the National Association of Jewish Legislators (NAJL), a national group of bi-partisan legislators who provide a state ground game for the benefit of the Jewish community. I’m also the vice chair of Secure Community Network, a national nonprofit organization providing security protection and intelligence gathering and dissemination for the Jewish community in North America.

I am an active board member of Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF) and a past chairman of its Board of Directors. In 2016, I was a recipient of JUF’s Julius Rosenwald Award, its highest honor. As a teen, I was involved in BBYO as part of the Waukegan, Illinois AZA chapter, and today, I serve on BBYO’s International Board and as chair of its endowment entity Fund for the Future. I am active in AIPAC and a regular visitor to Israel.

In Chicago, I am a member of the Economic Club and a past chapter chair of YPO Gold.

In 2017, I received the Man of the Year Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service from Jewish fraternity Zeta Beta Tau. In 2022, my wife, Suzanne Muchin, and I were honored by the American Jewish Committee with the 2022 AJC Human Rights Medallion Award.

Suzanne and I live in Chicago and have five children and two grandchildren.
