Dan has more than 35 years of experience representing property owners and developers in a variety of real estate investment activities and construction projects. He counsels developers in all stages, from acquisition to completion, including raising capital, structuring and negotiating multi-tiered joint ventures, negotiating construction loans, preparing construction documents, and providing strategic advice throughout the life of a venture.

Dan represents buyers and sellers in the sales of hotels, nursing homes, shopping centers, office buildings, apartment buildings, student housing, industrial warehouses, and raw land, as well as landlords and tenants in the leasing of office, retail, and industrial spaces. He regularly prepares and negotiates operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, easement agreements, REAs, offering memoranda, leases, and construction contracts.

Since the passing of the Tax Cuts and Job Act of 2017, which created qualified opportunity zones to spur economic development in distressed communities, Dan has represented real estate investment funds in the formation, capitalization, and financing of joint ventures with combined project costs of more than $2 billion.

Dan also has extensive experience in the development of mixed-use high-rise condominium projects, including the conversion of apartment buildings to condominiums and the purchase and deconversion of condominium buildings. He has represented developers in the creation of more than 80 condominium buildings in Chicago, including many of the projects that have transformed Chicago's South Loop. Dan recently represented a national venture, led by a Chicago sponsor, in the purchase of the largest condominium deconversion in the city's history.

Dan has counseled numerous clients on the creation of real estate funds to acquire properties across a range of asset classes as well as the raising of private equity for those funds. He regularly represents both banks and mezzanine lenders in their real estate lending activities. Dan represents purchasers of nonperforming loans and distressed real estate. He also assists clients in obtaining senior secured, mezzanine, and construction loans.

Prior to joining Much, Dan managed a boutique real estate and corporate law firm for over 25 years with cofounder Harlan Kahn. Their firm, Bronson & Kahn, consolidated with Much in June 2018.
