The Pharmacist Immunizer: Professional Advancements Facilitated by an Evolving Legal Framework

In Pharmacy Times magazine, Ned Milenkovich, co-chair of the firm’s Health Care practice, discusses how the authority of pharmacists to immunize in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico has advanced in three major areas. The first involves an increase in the number of types of vaccines that a pharmacist is permitted to administer. Other significant advancements include a broadening of the age group to whom pharmacists can administer vaccines and increased independence in the overall immunization process, an important legal trend that gives autonomy to pharmacists.
