Much Shelist Participates in Culinary Care’s Annual Corporate Cook-Off
Much Shelist sponsored Culinary Care's third annual Corporate Cook-Off on Thursday, September 28 at Kendall College, a private institution of higher learning that offers undergraduate degrees in business, culinary arts, early childhood education and hospitality management. The event, inspired by the hit TV show Chopped, pairs five-person corporate teams with some of the top chefs in Chicago as they compete to prepare the best cancer-friendly dishes within several nutritional categories.
The Much Shelist team—Marissa Downs, Daniel Hantman, Gregory Mann, Diane Rosemeyer and Steven Schwartz—worked with Michael Spiewak, Executive Chef at the Heritage in Forest Park, IL, to prepare a cancer-friendly recipe that the chef had created in advance. The firm's dish was sautéed shrimp with lime and eggplant yogurt puree served over herbed basmati rice. Over the course of two hours, the 19 competing teams each had 45 minutes to prepare their dishes in shifts before serving them to the judges.
While the teams cooked in one part of the building, the action was live-streamed to the fifth floor at Kendall College where guests could watch the competition, send “culinary curveballs” and dine on last year’s winning dishes. Cheering on the Much Shelist cooks were attorneys David Alman, Steven Blonder, Brian Crump and Camille Khodadad, along with staff members Jennifer Gallinson and Michael James. After the hard work concluded, participants joined the spectators for food and drinks, where they also shared war stories from the competition.
