Chicago-based law firm Much Shelist announced the recent expansion of its Orange County, Calif., office with the addition of three attorneys. Paul E. Van Hoomissen joined the Litigation & Dispute Resolution group as a Principal; Joshua B. Rittenberg joined the Labor & Employment and Litigation & Dispute Resolution groups as a Principal; and Jeff J. Astarabadi joined the Litigation & Dispute Resolution group as Special Counsel. All three attorneys come to Much Shelist from Jackson DeMarco Tidus Peckenpaugh (JDTP) in Irvine, Calif.

Paul E. Van Hoomissen was most recently with JDTP for 12 years, the last six as a Shareholder. Earlier in his career, Van Hoomissen practiced in Northern California with the firm McNamara, Ney, Beatty, Slattery, Borges & Brothers. He represents clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 1000 companies in connection with a variety of issues, including trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, trademark/patent disputes, contract disputes and employment matters. Van Hoomissen also represents large-scale property owners in litigation relating to the operation and management of commercial property throughout Southern California, and counsels property-management companies and real estate brokers on issues pertaining to the management of community associations and land sales. He holds a J.D. (cum laude) from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Joshua B. Rittenberg was most recently an Associate at JDTP. Earlier in his career, Rittenberg was General Counsel for Professional Satellite & Communications, a third-party provider of satellite television. He also spent several years at Curiale, Hirschfeld & Kraemer as an employment law specialist. Rittenberg represents a broad range of large, midsize and small businesses and organizations in all aspects of labor and employment law, and in trade secret litigation. He has represented clients in diverse litigation matters, ranging from wrongful termination and sexual harassment to unfair business practices to disputes under state and federal labor laws, noncompetition agreements and employment contracts. Rittenberg holds a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Jeff J. Astarabadi was most recently an Associate at JDTP. Earlier in his career, he was an Associate at Brady, Vorwerck, Ryder & Caspino in Orange, California. While in law school, Jeff served as an extern to the Honorable Kazuharu Makino of the Orange County Superior Court and to the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service. Astarabadi concentrates his practice in civil litigation, representing clients in both the prosecution and defense of complex business and real estate matters. He also represents businesses and individuals in matters involving construction, insurance, outdoor advertising, trade secrets, unfair competition and employment issues. Astarabadi holds a J.D. (magna cum laude) from Chapman University School of Law and a B.A. (cum laude) from the University of California, Irvine.
