Much Shelist is pleased to announce that Principals and Construction Group Co-chairs, Josh Leavitt and Scott Fradin have been named President and Vice President, respectively, of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys (SOICA) for its 2015-2016 term. The Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys is an invitation-only organization for Illinois-based construction attorneys who have demonstrated the highest ethical standards of practice and have made substantial professional contributions to the industry.

Josh Leavitt focuses his practice on a broad range of construction law matters, including disputes, contracts and counseling on industry risk. Leavitt has represented the full spectrum of construction participants, including, but not limited to, owners, contractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, manufacturers, developers and commercial landlords and tenants for both U.S. and overseas clients. Leavitt has approximately 30 years of construction law experience and is an elected Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He also speaks and lectures on various construction law matters for multiple organizations. Prior to his appointment as president, Leavitt was elected as a SOICA member in 2006, and has served in senior leadership roles since 2012.

Scott Fradin focuses his practice on helping his clients minimize construction disputes. A licensed architect, he has successfully represented clients involved in a wide range of construction-related matters, including breach of contract, delay and disruption claims, design- and construction-defect claims, bond claims and mechanics lien disputes. He has also represented major shopping centers and apartment complexes in the defense of accessibility claims brought under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the federal Fair Housing Act. Fradin serves as the general counsel for the National Demolition Association, a not-for-profit organization serving the demolition industry. Prior to his appointment as vice president, Fradin was elected as a SOICA member in 2006 and an officer in 2013.
