Much Shelist recently announced the addition of Julia A. Turk as a Principal in the firm’s Business & Finance practice group.

Turk has extensive experience representing clients in a variety of federal, state and local transactional matters, including income taxation and general corporate and partnership law. She handles all aspects of the creation of tax-efficient structures in mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, real estate private equity funds and corporations. In addition, she advises clients on the federal income tax consequences relating to the formation and operation of limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships, tax-exempt organizations, and S and C corporations.

Turk regularly drafts, reviews and analyzes operating, partnership and shareholder agreements and incentive compensation arrangements, including stock options, warrants and phantom stock plans. She has also advised investors, lenders and developers in low-income housing tax credit transactions. Her most notable achievements include the formation and structuring of a $350 million international real estate investment fund, and two $100 million international real estate funds.

In the community, Turk serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Board Governance Committee for the Emerald City Theater in Chicago. She holds a LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D. “Julia is a welcome addition to our Tax Department as well as complementary to our Business & Finance team,” said Mitchell S. Roth, Managing Partner. “She brings valuable experience and knowledge that will be highly beneficial to both our clients and our firm.”
