Diversity Day 2017: Inspiring a Life of Immersion

"Tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Much Shelist held its 11th annual Diversity Day celebration on January 16 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. The 2017 program focused on effecting change and inspiring others to support a cause, community or group of individuals. Our three panelists shared their personal stories and talked about how their unique passions have led them to a life of immersion in a particular cause. Through programs like Diversity Day, they hope to influence others to find their own ways to make a difference. Speakers included Christopher Clark, Lambda LegalDr. Marcenia Richards, Fierce Women of Faith; and Sufyan Sohel, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Steve Blonder, Chair of the Much Shelist Social Responsibility Committee, served as moderator.
