Much is proud to announce that our firm has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus as part of its ongoing commitment to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal industry. In 2022, Much achieved Midsize Mansfield Rule Certification through participation in Diversity Lab’s pilot midsize program. This year, the firm’s “Plus” designation indicates that Much has not only taken the steps to increase inclusivity in leadership but also made measured progress in doing so.
“When it comes to best serving our clients and communities, it is essential that all paths to leadership at Much – from client teams to pitches to promotions – are open and transparent to all qualified lawyers,” Managing Partner Courtney Mayster said.
To achieve Mansfield Certification, Much implemented a behavioral science and data-driven approach to help increase diversity in leadership. The firm considered broad slates of talent for leadership roles that included at least 30% women, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities. In addition, Much ensured that internal advancement processes are written, clear, and accessible.
Much is proud to be in the company of the 240+ law firms that became Mansfield certified during the 2022-2023 program, including both midsize and large firms across the country. Our firm is also proud to receive the Plus designation, which was earned by only 50% of this year’s certified firms.
Since our initial partnership with Diversity Lab in 2019, Much has committed to the Mansfield Initiative’s goal of opening the door wider and ensuring that opportunities for advancement are inclusive for everyone. We know that with diverse leadership comes better decisions that reflect the needs of our entire workforce for the benefit of our attorneys, clients, and communities.
