News and Accolades

In December 2015, Josh Leavitt and Scott Fradin assumed leadership, as president and vice president, respectively, of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys for the 2015-2016 term. Both are principals at Much Shelist and serve as co-chairs of the firm’s Construction Law group.

Scott Fradin published an article in the March/April 2016 issue of DesignIntelligence magazine, entitled “The Status of a Design Professional’s Ability to Shift Risk — Trends or Outliers.

Josh Leavitt spoke at the RCI International Convention and Trade Show in Orlando, Florida, on March 11, 2016, where he explored recent trends in envelope litigation and expert witness litigation.

Josh also made a presentation in March 2016 on “Legal Issues in Construction and Development” to the Advanced Real Estate Transactions Class at DePaul University’s College of Law, where he serves as a guest lecturer.

Lastly, Josh was a featured presenter at the Illinois State Bar Association’s CLE seminar and mock trial, “The Story of a Mechanics Lien Claim: From Client Meeting to Trial,” held on April 8, 2016. He played the role of general contractor in two of the sessions, which reviewed responses to a notice of problems with a subcontractor’s work and the development of strategies for prosecuting and defending mechanics lien claims during a review of necessary pleadings and discovery.
