Jon is a trusted legal advisor with more than 30 years of experience counseling publicly traded and privately owned companies in a wide range of industries. As outside general counsel, Jon helps clients determine business strategies and manage legal risks. As national litigation counsel, he analyzes potential threats, develops effective responses and supervises lawsuits in federal and state courts throughout the United States.

Over the course of his career, Jon has successfully resolved disputes involving contracts, insurance coverage, partnerships and trade secrets, among other matters. He is equally comfortable in the courtroom and in the boardroom, and delivers customized training to executives and key personnel on issues such as antitrust compliance and dispute resolution. Jon draws on an extensive network of professional advisors to help businesses develop proactive solutions that address their most pressing legal needs. He also has significant experience representing attorneys and other professionals in disciplinary and malpractice cases. 

Jon has appeared in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels, including before the Illinois Supreme Court. He has led clients through successful arbitrations, mediations and administrative hearings, achieved numerous trial victories and negotiated highly favorable settlements. He understands both the context and the nuances of each case, and approaches every matter with an eye toward aggressive, cost-effective resolution.

In addition to his corporate and litigation practices, Jon is a member of Much’s Cannabis Law team. He helps cannabis industry business owners and investors make smart decisions in the face of evolving legislation and regulations, address day-to-day operational issues and develop strategies for long-term success.

Jon co-authored the chapter “How to Overspend and Lose the Case: Ten Common Mistakes in Big Ticket Litigation” for the e-book Straight from the Top: Case Studies in the World of Litigation. While in law school, he served as managing editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, published by Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

Jon is a past president of Camp Ramah in Wisconsin and serves on the executive committee of the National Ramah Commission. The Ramah network provides summer camping, educational and leadership opportunities to more than 12,000 children, teens and young adults annually. Jon also is a member of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and AJC. He provides pro bono legal services for JUF Community Legal Services, the ARK and other social service agencies, and volunteered for Lawyers in the Classroom, a program that teaches Chicago public school students about the Constitution and legal system.
