Our commitment to diversity means we foster a culture of equality and treat each other with respect. We create a safe, welcoming work environment. We choose to be inclusive and accountable in the face of hatred and intolerance. We promote the highest standards of our legal system. We honor and celebrate the different journeys that bring people to Much.
Our firm maintains a broad definition of diversity that includes race, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and more, as well as personal history and lifestyle. These differences enable our team to see things from several perspectives, which helps us challenge the status quo and amplify the voices of people from varied walks of life.
Putting in the work.
Led by co-chairs Camille Khodadad and Ed Shapiro, Much’s DEI initiative regularly provides educational programming that shines a spotlight on people and celebrates important observances like Pride Month and Black History Month. We bring in experts to help our employees expand their perspectives and kickstart change. Our firm also facilitates volunteer opportunities to support professional and civic organizations that advance the interests of those who are underrepresented in the legal profession and the larger community.
In 2022, Much successfully achieved Midsize Mansfield Rule Certification. Our firm, alongside only 25 other midsize law firms, participated in the pilot program and completed a collaboration with Diversity Lab that measured and tracked progress on diversifying law firm leadership. As part of the Mansfield Rule initiative, we are committed to considering women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, and formal client pitch opportunities.
The Much Women's Initiative is dedicated to the support and development of women throughout our firm. Led by co-chairs Priti Nemani and Kathy Shaw, the group creates opportunities to build and strengthen relationships with clients, trusted advisors, and colleagues at all levels.
The Much team turns to our Women’s Initiative for ideas designed to improve the recruitment, retention, promotion, and work-life harmony of the firm's women employees. The group provides resources to enhance the marketing and business generation efforts of women attorneys. It’s where women associates and junior professionals can find supportive, caring mentors and advocates.
“We strive to create diverse and inclusive teams that reflect the communities around us. And we know we have work to do to improve on our strategic diversity plan. By participating in Diversity Lab's Mansfield Rule, we aim to increase the number of diverse voices in leadership and create a more inclusive workplace.”
