Michael C. James
Michael serves as Director of Marketing at Much, where he is responsible for developing and leading the firm's strategic marketing efforts. He has more than 25 years of experience in marketing communications, business development, writing and editing, staff and client leadership, and complex project management in support of business goals. Michael works closely with firm leadership, practice groups and individual attorneys to implement marketing initiatives that support the firm’s strategic plan and drive business development. He and his marketing colleagues recently completed an overhaul of the Much brand, which included developing and launching a new logo.
Michael’s legal industry experience spans nearly 15 years and includes senior-level marketing and business development roles at two other Chicago-based firms, as well as a previous seven-year stint at Much. Earlier in his career, he was an account supervisor at a public relations firm and held various editorial and project management roles in the publishing industry.
Michael is a member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Working Group.

Michael helps plan the firm’s annual social responsibility calendar and has participated in community service activities benefitting such organizations as Playworks Illinois, Culinary Care, Ronald McDonald House and Back2School Illinois.
