Much Shelist is pleased to announce the addition of James L. Wideikis as a Principal in the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group.

Wideikis focuses his practice on commercial litigation, representing clients and litigating claims across a variety of insurance coverage matters, including general liability, professional liability, D&O, auto, and homeowner policies. Wideikis helps clients reduce potential exposure and achieve business objectives, drawing on his experience in federal and state courts—including in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New York and Oklahoma—and as lead counsel on catastrophic, high-exposure cases.

Wideikis has represented a number of companies in a broad range of industries, including steam boiler manufacturers, cryogenic equipment distributors, lead abatement companies, municipal water contractors, and entertainment companies. He has also represented private businesses and insurance companies in complex disputes.

"We are pleased to welcome Jim to Much Shelist,” said Edward D. Shapiro, Chair of the firm's Litigation and & Dispute Resolution practice group. “He exhibits the type of client-focused, practical approach that Much Shelist values. Jim joins a team of 25 litigators who approach their work with one goal in mind: helping our clients achieve their business goals, whether in or out of court.”

Wideikis is peer-rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as an Emerging Lawyer since 2015 and was selected by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company as one of the "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" (2014). In his spare time, he volunteers with "100 Men Who Give a Damn," a grassroots movement comprised of varying professionals all focused on assisting and improving local charities. Wideikis received a bachelor of arts (cum laude) from John Carroll University and a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
