Christian M. Auty
Christian is an experienced litigator focused on data privacy and the intersection of technology and law. He counsels clients regarding compliance with data privacy regimes, including HIPAA and the General Data Protection Regulation, and he has extensive experience responding to data breaches, including representing clients in regulatory actions. A core member of the Much Shelist Blockchain Technologies Team, Christian frequently advises clients concerning state and federal regulations applicable to distributed ledger technology.
Within his health care practice, Christian represents providers and pharmaceutical companies in a wide range of data privacy and regulatory matters. He has negotiated numerous business associate and information security agreements, and has significant experience conducting internal investigations and representing clients in all stages of state and federal litigation.
Christian writes and speaks on data privacy and security, as well as blockchain technologies. He has been quoted in Inc. on blockchain regulation, frequently writes for publications such as Managed Healthcare Executive and Corporate Compliance Insights, and blogs at www.distributedcounsel.com. Christian has spoken at seminars and conferences presented by the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Illinois Health Care Association, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (National Summit) and other industry and professional organizations.
