Ari is a versatile intellectual property and technology attorney with a strong operations background and a track record of implementing strategic initiatives and end-to-end solutions for his clients. He advises on matters pertaining to data privacy and security, technology development and service agreements, content licensing, and social media and advertising risk management and best practices. He also provides guidance about trademark and copyright protection, maintenance, and enforcement and other issues concerning intellectual property and technology.

Ari has experience leading negotiations for a wide range of technology contracts including supplier/customer non-disclosure agreements, evaluation agreements, master service agreements, deliverables agreements, software license and maintenance agreements, SaaS terms, data handler/secondary data use terms, and IP license agreements. He also helps businesses identify, avoid, and solve legal issues concerning data breaches (preparation, response, and remediation), critical vulnerabilities and application security, website terms of service, privacy policies, and open-source software.   

Before joining Much, Ari spent several years working at a leading global financial services firm, most recently serving as vice president and assistant general counsel for one of its four major lines of business. There, he served as the lead marketing attorney advising on privacy and data use matters, FTC and advertising regulations, required disclaimers and disclosures for external materials distributed domestically and internationally, and IP issues arising out of product naming and marketing campaigns. He also served as a lead regulatory attorney for the firm's legal and regulatory change management program, through which he managed advocacy and implementation efforts related to prospective and enacted legislation in all U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions in which his clients conducted business operations.

Ari also functioned as a subject matter resource for his legal colleagues regarding the CAN-SPAM Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), California Consumer Privacy Act, EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

While in law school, Ari served as a notes and comments editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review and externed for Judge Matthew F. Kennelly of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Ari is involved with the Safe Passage Project, an organization dedicated to providing free legal services for refugee and immigrant children in deportation proceedings, for which he previously served as a pro bono immigration attorney. He received the 2018 NYC Mayoral Service Recognition Award for outstanding pro bono representation of a client seeking asylum in the United States.
