AT WORK
Michael B. Shaw concentrates his practice in corporate law and is the head of the firm’s Private Equity practice. Michael represents clients in connection with a broad range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital financings, business succession planning, strategic alliances and joint ventures. His clients range from large proprietorships and public companies to start-up and other small or mid-sized privately held companies. He also represents many private equity groups with respect to mergers and acquisitions and portfolio company matters. Michael has extensive experience advising officers, directors and shareholders regarding general corporate and business law issues. He also handles other corporate matters, including contract drafting and review, and corporate structuring and governance..
IN THE PROFESSION
Michael is a member of the Chicago, Illinois State, and American Bar Associations and is a former Co-Chair of the Corporate Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. He is also active in the Association for Corporate Growth.
Michael is the author of "Buy-Sell Agreements: The Corporate Prenup," "The Uniform Limited Partnership Act — Bringing Limited Partnerships into the 21st Century" and "Series LLCs Present Additional Options for Illinois Businesses." While in law school, he was the Note and Comment Editor for the Journal of International Law and Business.
IN THE COMMUNITY
Michael is actively involved in the Jewish United Fund's Young Leadership Division. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Counsel for Youth Services.
