L. Daniel Liutikas is a corporate and technology transactional lawyer, and serves as general counsel to many of the firm's middle-market clients. In his practice, Dan handles a variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions; domestic and international commercial transactions, including supply and distribution agreements, inbound and outbound licensing, franchise formation and governance, joint marketing, development, collaboration and strategic alliances; information technology and business process outsourcing; and technology transactions related to the Internet and other new media outlets.

Dan also regularly counsels clients on and implements comprehensive Intellectual Asset Management programs, for which he has developed several proprietary assessment and management tools.

Dan's practice also includes representing clients in the film, television, home video, music, literary publishing, theatre and other entertainment industries. He counsels and negotiates agreements for artists, producers, writers, personal managers, literary agents, publishers and various companies involved in the entertainment industry and new media. He also counsels entertainment industry clients with respect to issues of defamation, invasion of privacy, rights of publicity, copyrights, trademarks and other areas of potential exposure and concern.

Dan is certified as a mediator by the Center for Conflict Resolution, a project of the Chicago Bar Association that provides mediation services to state and local courts and agencies.

IN THE PROFESSION

Dan lectures as a faculty member at the Chicago-Kent College of Law for "The Internet after September 11th: Security, Privacy and Intellectual Property," a certificate program for business and technology professionals.

Dan served as Vice-Director of Chicago-Kent College of Law's "Project Poland," organizing online discussion forums for judges, preparing online publications, and creating expert systems in electronic transactions and feasible models for government-sponsored banking and financial law websites. He also served as associate director of "Building Businesses on the Web and the Certificate Program in E-Commerce" at Chicago-Kent College of Law, assisting in the development of its curriculum.

Dan is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, for which he serves as Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Section Corporate Practice Group Committee. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Internet Executives Club and the Chicago Software Association.

While in law school, Dan served as a staff member and Executive Website Articles Editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He also served as a judicial extern to Judge Blanche M. Manning of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Dan volunteers time to mediate disputes in the Cook County Circuit Courts and conduct private mediations at the Center for Conflict Resolution. He also works with Lawyers for the Creative Arts in representing struggling and up-and-coming artists, directors, producers and other entertainers on a pro bono or reduced-fee basis.
